If you have questions about medical equipment, DME insurance coverage questions, or how our process works, you are in the right place. These are the questions we hear most often from seniors, family caregivers, and healthcare professionals across Northeast Ohio and Northwestern Pennsylvania. We have put together clear, honest answers grounded in our 34 years of experience serving the Mahoning Valley. Whether you are sorting out what Medicare covers, trying to understand the Ohio Waiver program, or just wondering what to expect when you visit our showroom, this medical equipment FAQ is here to help.
Does Medicare or Medicaid cover power lift chairs purchased through your store?
Yes, Medicare and Medicaid are accepted for power lift chairs and can cover the cost in full or in part, depending on the individual's plan and qualification status. Power lift chairs from Golden Technologies and Pride Mobility are available in our showroom, ranging from $1,200 to $3,500. Medicare and Medicaid coverage applies specifically to power lift chairs and does not extend to mobility scooters, power wheelchairs, compression socks, cold therapy units, or most other durable medical equipment we carry. Those items are available on a cash-and-carry basis. What is the Ohio Waiver or Passport Program, and which products does it cover?
The Ohio Waiver and Passport Program is a state-funded assistance program that can help cover the cost of certain home accessibility equipment. At Canfield Medical Supply, this program applies to two specific product categories: power stair lifts, including Harmar Pinnacle models ranging from $3,200 to $5,000, and EZ-Access wheelchair ramps and home modifications ranging from $800 to $10,000. All other products in the store are available on a cash-and-carry, out-of-pocket basis.Do you offer free in-home assessments before installing a stair lift or wheelchair ramp?
Yes. For stair lifts and EZ-Access ramp systems, a free in-home assessment is a standard part of our process. One of our trained contractors will visit your home to take precise measurements, photograph the space, evaluate the structural environment, and provide a binding price quote before any work begins. This no-obligation consultation ensures you receive a solution that fits your home and your specific needs. We serve homes throughout Mahoning, Trumbull, Columbiana, and surrounding counties in Ohio, as well as parts of Mercer, Erie, and Crawford counties in Pennsylvania. Can I try out equipment like lift chairs and scooters before I buy?
Yes. Our showroom in Canfield features working floor models of power lift chairs, mobility scooters, power wheelchairs, and stair lifts so you can test them before making a decision. Trying equipment in person, especially for something as personal as a lift chair or mobility scooter, leads to much better outcomes than ordering online without any hands-on experience. Our staff will also assist with proper sizing for compression garments from Sigvaris right in the store, at no extra charge.Do you sell mobility scooters and power wheelchairs, and does insurance cover them?
We sell a wide selection of indoor and outdoor mobility scooters and customizable power wheelchairs from Golden Technologies and Pride Mobility, priced from $1,200 to $3,200. At this time, Medicare and Medicaid do not apply to these products through our store, so they are available on a cash-and-carry, out-of-pocket basis. We do not currently offer a formal rental program for these items. What kinds of durable medical equipment do you carry, and what do items typically cost?
We stock a broad range of durable medical equipment from Drive Medical and Medline, including walkers, rollators, transport chairs, manual wheelchairs, knee scooters, and canes, with prices generally running from $30 to $250. We also carry bathroom and bedroom safety items such as shower chairs, raised toilet seats, bedside commodes, and bed assist bars, ranging from $50 to $300. Walking boots in short and tall styles, sizes S through XL, are available from $60 to $100. Most items are available for immediate purchase in our showroom on a cash-and-carry basis. How quickly can you deliver equipment or handle a repair?
For equipment purchased through Canfield Medical Supply, we offer free local delivery and aim for same-day or next-day turnaround on repairs. We understand that a broken piece of mobility equipment is not a minor inconvenience, and we treat urgent repair needs with the same priority as a new sale. Please note that our repair services are limited to equipment originally purchased through our store. We serve customers in Canfield, Youngstown, Boardman, and surrounding areas throughout the Mahoning Valley. What accreditations does Canfield Medical Supply hold, and how long have you been in business?
